A Forensic Neuropsychologist In Los Angeles Identifies The Guilty Party For Court System

By Marci Glover

An accused murderer may be either convicted or exonerated with the help of forensic evidence. Some witnesses are adept liars and a jury member may believe the lies. However, when confronted with the concrete evidence provided by DNA, the facts confirmed by a forensic neuropsychologist in Los Angeles are indisputable.

Modern day forensic scientists test blood samples, semen samples and all trace elements for the truth. With blood shed at a murder scene, it will always remain to attest to what took place. If the accused left tire tracks or footprints in mud at the scene, they can be proven to match specific tires or the soles of shoes.

Other people may wear the same size and brand of shoes. But, each person has a different wear pattern on the soles depending on how the foot is placed on the ground as he or she walks. The heels may be worn on one pair and not on another.

Weeds caught under a car can prove it was driven off the road into the field where a victim was left to die. The owner of the car will need to explain what he was doing driving off road in that particular spot. It shows guilt.

The police can get a search warrant for a car if there is a good reason to suspect the owner. The interior and the trunk may have blood evidence. Blood can always be detected by using a substance called Luminol. When sprayed on a surface it illuminates the blood evidence.

Matching blood to that of a suspect, the victim, or even a pet dog or cat is now possible. There are forensic experts who specialize in all types of evidence. They include those expert in gunshot residue and the path taken by a bullet shot from a kneeling or standing position. A retrieved bullet from wood or upholstery can be matched to the gun it was shot from.

When decomposition has rendered a body into a skeleton, blood evidence can be extracted from any existing bone marrow. Experts can determine age, gender and ethnicity of the skeletal remains. Teeth may be matched to dental records and an implant such as a pacemaker is identifiable by the number on it.

A neuropsychologist is able to analyze brain damage and how it affects behavior. A brain scan will show which area of the brain is damaged. This can show whether or not a suspect is legally competent to participate in his or her own defense. This valuable evidence may relieve a suspect of responsibility for abberent behavior.

Services include giving testimony, putting together neuropsychological evaluations, doing reviews of existing cases, doing medical evaluations and consulting with attorneys as a case is put together. The brain animation gives a clear idea of what happened to affect an individuals behavior. Non-scientists such as the judge and jury can understand such a pictorial representation of the genetic defect or injury by seeing the animation.

Such an animation shows all parts of the brain and how any damage has affected the accused persons behavior. There is a saying that pictures are worth more than words. To a jury, this is true.
