Things To Keep In Mind About Babywise Schedule

By Imelda Reid

Becoming a parent is probably the most exciting and challenging event in most peoples lives. They suddenly realize what it is like to be responsible for another human life. Despite the initial feelings of love and exhilaration most parents quickly find themselves totally exhausted and wishing their baby would sleep more. Getting into a good routine is very important, especially for a family with older children.

Meeting the needs of everyone, including parents, siblings and the new infant takes some thought. Many parents feel that it should be a natural process that simply occurs on its own. Sadly this is rarely true and most people find that putting some thought and effort into the scheduling can really pay off. With this in mind the latest trend to hit the parenting world is Babywise schedule planning.

In past generations most people lived close to their own parents and has someone to turn to for help and advice. Today's generation are much more mobile and often live hours away from their family. Although they can call to ask for help, there is no one close by to come over and give them a much need break. Going it alone can be one of the toughest times in a parents life.

The intensity of parenting can be even worse if the infant has colic or a medical condition. Babies that cry for hours for no apparent reason are particularly frustrating for their parents. A high percentage of women also suffer from post natal depression. This devastating condition can strike anyone and is hormonally based. Its effects are particularly difficult for those with no one to turn to at their time of need.

Many people also find it quite helpful to go on line and read the comments left by other parents. It is wonderful to know that many other people struggle with sleep and feeding issues. Parents can log on and ask questions that relate to their own particular circumstances. They should be aware that not everyone will agree with the book and it is good to respect everyone's opinions.

The new Babywise book is very easy to read. It is written in a clear and concise fashion and many people will read through it in one sitting. It has the advantage of setting out the routines according to the babies age. The authors have obviously put a lot of thought and research into the book. They understand that many parents have very busy lives and need to count on a strict schedule to get them through the work week.

Many of the people who love the book and its approach are working moms. They may have as little as six weeks of maternity leave before they have to return to work. Having a good plan to help them get back on track is very comforting. Many moms are introduced to the book before their baby is even born and they are familiar with the strategies and know what to do.

At the end of the day the family must choose what works for them. Even if a close friend has had great success with the program does not mean it will work for everyone. Babies are just as much individuals as adults and should not be forced to stick to a rigid routine if it upsets them too much.
