Psych-K And Redesigning The Subconscious

By Ruthie Calderon

A longtime unknown self-help tool has made its way back onto the stage recently. The tool known as psych-k, or psychological kinesiology works to help create positive beliefs, behaviors, thoughts and feelings in the subconscious mind. The creator of the program has found that by instituting these positive aspects, negative ones are then replaced allowing the mind to change.

As subconscious beliefs are invisible, it can be hard at times to understand that thoughts in the subconscious may be holding an individual back from success. As such, it is believed these beliefs are often responsible for the self-sabotage resulting from these unknown and often negative thoughts. In most cases, these self-defeating thoughts have been generated throughout life, first in childhood, then later as an adult.

Recognizing these self-defeating patterns is just one way the program helps people change so that one can manage life more effectively. While there are other tools like mediation, visualization and keeping daily or dream journals, all of these require a conscious mind. Whereas, the process of this program deals entirely with changing beliefs in the subconscious. Of course, without consciousness awareness of the subconscious, the program would also lack success.

For, this program focuses on the negative actions, beliefs, causes, feelings and thoughts for which there are no known cause. Rather than focus on each problem, the program works to redevelop the thought patterns of the mind into those which are happier and healthier overall. So, while an individual may not understand what causes a negative feeling or reaction, one can still clear oneself of the negative energy by focusing on the positive aspects in life.

Anxiety, depression, stress and illness are often keys that something is wrong somewhere in body, mind or spirit. Generally, these emotional type issues suggest it is a problem with the mind. As such, while there may be no logical explanation, it is believed that the subconscious may have the answers as to why an individual may be experiencing these and other difficulties in life.

A few key elements is that while meditation is a conscious choice, it is often a good place to start the process. For, a quiet mind is often quicker to adapt to change than a noisy one. As such, when communicating these positive behaviors through different body movements, postures, beliefs, behaviors, thoughts and emotions, it is easier for the brain to adapt as the old becomes new.

One area the creator of this program implemented is that of self-permission. Self-permission is described as giving the self permission to change for the better. To do so, the creator request that individuals involved agree that the changes sought are in the best interest of the individual at the time. Cataloging change and progress over time is another area on which the creator of the program strongly relies to assess improvement over time.

Using a combination of educational kinesiology and neuro-linguistic programming, psycho-spiritual healing, and hypnotherapy, the process while simple is also quite complex. The advanced tools while streamlined are quite helpful with regards to specific issues associated with more basic exercises like body posture, trigger points and breathing.
