Discovering Happiness Through Personal Growth Mentoring

By Jessica Butler

When desiring to live a happy, healthy life, there are several steps one can take to do so. When it comes to personal growth mentoring, individuals can learn how to live and maintain a balanced life. For, when working with a mentor, an individual can often go deeper into a personal journey.

One reason for hiring this type professional is to gain help while exploring oneself and future goals. In most cases, these professionals can often see qualities within others that one can not see oneself. As such, the mentors can then provide the concepts and tools necessary to bring out these qualities which can often be beneficial in living a happy and successful life.

There are several benefits associated with the mentoring process. These can include positive change in behaviors and lifestyle, identifying value within oneself and others, becoming more energetic each and every day and incorporating a sense of integrity, passion and joy into life. Beyond these benefits, learning to live a happy, healthful, peaceful and whole life is often a primary goal.

In sessions, the professional and client work together to dive deep into a personal journey. During the process, it is important to identify where an individual has been, where one is going and what is preventing someone from living the dream life one desires.

Most mentors also teach individuals how to use a set of psychological tools to stay focused and balanced over time. These tools can include various forms of self-management techniques. For example, individuals often learn how to better manage stress, time and overcome obstacles when working with a mentor. One of the most important tools taught is having the ability to say no to others when and where necessary.

When it comes to mentoring children, it is important that parents vet any potential caregiver or mentor before leaving a child or children alone with the individual. For, while there are few instances of mentors having a criminal history, the possibility always exist. In most cases, mentors are going to be positive role models who can teach children and troubled teens positive aspects of life and how to stay out of trouble now and in the future.

Regardless of age, a mentor can be beneficial on a number of levels. For, these individuals often have a lot to teach in the way of living a positive, vibrant and healthy lifestyle. While this is the case, it is important that if an individual of any age feels uncomfortable with regards to a mentor, one speaks up and lets those feelings be known.

Ultimately, an individual can grow and develop with or without the help of a professional mentor. In some cases, especially with physically challenged individuals, a mentor can become as much a friend as a professional. Whereas, in the case of a child, a mentor can often impart life saving advice at an age appropriate level which will keep the individual out of trouble now and in the future.
