By Stacey Burt

The types of decorations that will look great with this seasonal item is diverse, and there are a wide range of bright colors that are great for autumn projects in many locations. A house will become a great retreat when new and traditional items are added via fall wreath ideas. Youth will love helping to create these beautiful projects when the best materials are acquired.

A small home, that is designed in a cottage style, will look warm when a variety of autumn hues are scattered purposely through out the house. A spacious mansion style home will look stunning when larger pieces are place on interior or exterior windows and doors. A personal touch will be to add family photos to sandy colored wooden wreaths, and this will look nice when placed in a living room over a fireplace.

Fabric is a great choice for a client to use as a base for a new wreath project, and brown or orange strips can be intertwined around the frame before other items are attached. There are also many natural items, such a pine cones, that will look fabulous when glued to a frame. There are also many quality metal bases that fabric may be wrapped around to accentuate the current season.

Before starting a project, the right tools need to be assembled, and these items may be purchased from a quality craft shop. There are many different round base pieces in a wide selection of sizes, and the client may want to measure the desired area where the item will be hanging. The customer may also want to buy a glue gun, fabric pieces and small craft items, like beads.

This type of activity is a large amount of fun, because it is easy to do and fairly inexpensive to create. There are a large number of seasonal pieces available, like gold colored leaves and berry branches, that will make the project look wonderful when added to the foundation. Children will be kept busy when they are allowed to help choose and position the pieces on the unit.

A cloth tie at the top of the wreath will help it to stay in place on a front or back door when completed. A finished piece may also be adhered to a wall or door via the top on the back, and a hanging metal piece will easily help it to stay. A small personal item may be to add a wooden initial that establishes who the owner is based on the initial for last name.

A simplistic item may be assembled from colors that include deep greens or rich browns that mimic the outside season. A contemporary item may include rich red or brown items, such as peppers, that are not normally used in a fall design, such as pumpkins. The individual doing the craft may also want to choose a family of shapes, such as all items that appear to be square.

A client may want to make two pieces that may be used on both front and back doors, and these can be uniquely designed with different autumn materials. A common theme with this type of project is to use natural materials that blend in with the way the weather appears outside at this time of the year. The final item should make the owner feel a sense of accomplishment for creating a beautiful home item.
