Mistakes Made When Writing Childrens Poems About Animals

By Freida Michael

Poetry is a good way for children to learn what life is and to express themselves. Childrens poems about animals can be imaginative, fun and educational as well. For young children, they have to be simple enough for them to understand and enjoy. This article will look at the different types of poetry that have been created for kids concerning animals real or imaginary.

One should always be ready to teach in any form that might be applicable to children. Poetry is just one of many tools that can be used to teach children about the world of animals. They can learn many of these different creatures in terms of how they live their daily lives or they can learn by using the imagination when an animal is placed in a fantasy situation.

Kids can also learn to write their own poetry concerning the creatures they are learning about. This is a great way for them to put their thoughts on paper and express how they feel about an animal. This does not have to be about what they have seen in a zoo or elsewhere. It could be a poem that reveals their favorite pet and what it means to them.

Some poets might use this medium of expression as a way to educate kids on how an animal is treated. For example, a child might read poetry on how cows are eaten for food which is something that maybe never occurred to them. For example, they might show through clever language, the importance of preserving polar bears or certain types of forest creatures that they probably never heard of before.

The best types of poetry have certain characteristics. Since kids like to have fun, a poem should also have a light-hearted nature when written. A child should be able to laugh when they hear it or read it and feel good doing so. These are the types of poetry that might be considered silly or weird to some adults, but it is great for a child's imagination.

One should also consider the attention span of children, which is usually very short. Therefore, to hold their interest long enough, it is a good idea to have poetry that is short and interesting at the same time. A long, boring poem can create restlessness and make them wish they were outside playing on the swings or in a jungle gym. However, each child is different and can surprise you from time to time.

Another way to hold the attention of children with poetry is for it to rhyme. When a poem rhymes, there is a musical quality to it even though it is not a song. Rhyming also has a pattern which can be followed by the children, helping them to guess what follows next. This makes it fun and exciting for to listen to poetry and even inspire them make one of their own.

These are just a few things to keep in mind when writing poetry for children. While they might have different taste in terms of what is funny and if something is interesting or not, they are all pretty much the same on a basic level. Sometimes it helps to think back to when you were a child to help construct poetry for children.
