Employment Companies Are Almost Required In The Current Job Environment

By Chris Vincent

Do not be put off by whatever you hear regarding the unemployment rate in America. There are still more than enough job opportunities out there for people who want to work. The hitch is that looking for a job today differs greatly from the process twenty years ago. Simply sending out resumes and cover letters is no longer an effective approach. For the employer to see the person behind the resume, you need employment companies to act as your agent in the job market.

Employment agencies, which are sometimes called staffing agencies, are a good place to start for job hunters seeking entry level or mid level positions. Employers with a large number of employees are constantly in the process of trying to fill vacant positions. Many of the larger companies use staffing agencies exclusively to fill vacancies. The agencies take on work that would have to be done by their staff in human resources

Upon registration with an employment agency, the applicant will be required to produce two forms of identification accepted by the Department of Immigration. Applicants also authorize a background check. It is not uncommon to complete and sign as many as twelve documents for the agency before registration. All this paperwork would over burden a busy human resources department. When an employer interviews an applicant referred from an employment agency, the employer can rest assured that the applicant has been thoroughly screened.

A recruitment agency, also called headhunter, works best if you are looking for a position at the managerial or executive levels. Employers who are willing to work with a recruitment agency depend on quality applicants only. They pay a considerable amount of money for this service. When an employer hires an applicant who was referred to them by a headhunter, the employer will pay up to thirty percent of the annual salary to the headhunter. The service may cost the employer thirty thousand to fifty thousand dollars or more.

Getting signed with a recruitment agency is similar to job hunting. The agency will interview and scrutinize your background and references before agreeing to take you on as their client. Once you have signed with a headhunter be prepared to interview for positions where the competition is significant.

There are niche headhunter agencies that only focus on specific professions. Physicians, attorneys and certified public accountants are some of the professions that might require a niche headhunter. Only professionals with the appropriate education and experience are appropriate candidates for a niche agency.

Just about everyone understands the concept of movie stars being represented by agents. A movie star with a respected agent is most likely to find a job. Conversely, the agent will only take a client if he or she is confident that the client can get hired. Recruitment agencies work on the same principle. You will need to make a good impression on the recruitment agency. The agency must believe that you will represent them well so the employer will use their services again.

Global staffing agencies are another option. These agencies represent all skill levels, from entry to executive. Fortune 100 companies use them regularly. With global services they represent unique employment opportunities. People who are looking to relocate to another state or another country should register with this type of employment agency.

The global staffing agencies are highly motivated and have taken the art of finding a job to a new level. One of the websites boast that they put new employees to work every thirty three seconds. The agency says it makes over five hundred thousand employee, employer connections every year. Often these connections are for temporary positions. In this litigious age, temporary may be a euphemism for getting to know each other before a permanent commitment is made.

Do not worry about taking a temporary position. Usually when temporary employees work well with the company they are able to make the transition to permanent employees. This is really a great opportunity to try out something new. If both parties are not happy at the end of the trial period both are free to end the working relationship.

The opportunities are definitely out there. All you need is the right agent, or agency, to represent your interests. Look at the process as a wonderful opportunity to discover the next chapter of your working life.
