7 Neuroplasticity Exercises You Should Try

By Patrick Wright

When your brain gets used to a particular daily routine, it gets boring. This is because you will wake up every day knowing the outcome of the day. You will, therefore, develop negative feelings towards life because you know that your day will be full of discontent and distress like all the rest. Therefore, having the same routine every day is not healthy for your brain. The brain thus needs to reorganize the synaptic connections to make it more active. The following are examples of neuroplasticity exercises that you should take part in. These will rewire your brain making it more active.

The first effective neuroplasticity builder is having an aerobic exercise. If you are a fitness addict, you might want to have an intense sixty-minute intense workout. This will give you the best results. However, if you are not a fitness addict, taking a walk through the park will help your brain to light up in different parts.

If you hate books and you cannot stand sitting down for more than one hour reading a book or a magazine, look for a book. You might wonder how this will help you, but it is very important. When you do activities that you do not like, your brain cells become stimulated. Therefore, if you force yourself to read, you will help to stimulate your brain.

Also, you can challenge your brain by playing a challenging board game or any other difficult game. This will make your brain to device new tactics to play and win the board game. Therefore, to help your neurons to reconnect and rewire, it is wise to look for challenging games to play. The results will be amazing after the game.

You can also start doing things out of the ordinary. This will help in triggering the brain plasticity. For example, if you are right-handed, you can decide to brush your teeth or write using your left hand. Also, if you are left-handed, you can learn to do things using your right hand. Since learning is considered to be neuroprotective, learning will increase the connections of neurons. Cellular metabolism will increase, and the nerve growth factor will increase.

Another neuroplasticity exercise that you should do is smiling. This may sound lame, but it has been found to work very effectively. Smiling boosts your brain cells at all times. Therefore, the more you smile, the more your brain cells will be stimulated. More so, when you smile, you forget about your stress, worries and daily frustration even it is for the moment.

You can also practice intermittent fasting so that you can increase synaptic adaptations. Also, fasting will help or promote the growth of the neurons and promote overall cognitive function. Also, it will decrease the risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases that may affect people. Thus, intermittent fasting is good for boosting brain activity.

You may also decide to travel and experience new things. When you travel, you open your mind to adapt to new things. Thus, new pathways and activities in the brain will be opened up. Hence, if you want to become active and rejuvenated, travel as often as you can.
