Expert Tips For Perfect Dahlia Flower Arrangments

By Karen McDonald

Dahlia is a beautiful species but this beauty can be lost because of how it is arranged. Combining it with other flowers also affects its beauty. Perfect dahlia flower arrangments can only be achieved step by step. Here are secrets by experts on how to have a magical arrangement for the species and other flowers.

Pick the right flower. Though all flowers are beautiful, the color, level of blooming, shade and such other aspects, make a stem beautiful. Since this bloom will be the vocal point in your organization, it must be perfect. It cannot anchor the beauty of your vase or stand if it is wilted or its stem is broken, among other issues.

Add a bit of texture to your flowers. You would need an entire acre for flowers of a similar color or variety to look beautiful. This is why they are mixed with others to add a little bit of depth and texture. Some of the flowers that will add the depth and augment texture for you include eucalyptus, ferns, poms and lisuanthus. This augmentation also adds a little depth to the scent produced by these flowers.

Collect all the tools and equipment you will require to prepare your arrangement. The main requirements include a table to hold your flowers, scissors and a floral tap. The scissors can be replaced with a paring knife because you might not get the special scissors for flowers or you could be having a one-off project. Some of these tools can be improvised because it is the function they are performing that is necessary. You will need a table that cannot be damaged by water.

Choose the right container for the work. A good vase is determined by its height, weight, design, and color. Pay attention to the volume of flowers it can accommodate. The vase should provide necessary support to your floral design. It must have adequate depth that protects your stalks from protruding. The color and design of your vase must not overshadow your flowers. It should complement the vase and make the entire arrangement beautiful.

Process the flowers before arranging them onto a vase. Processing involves unpacking the stems and ensuring that the vase is ready. The water used should be at room temperature. Do not use water that is too hot or too cold because it shocks flowers. The edges of your stems are cut to enable the flowers to take in water easily. This will keep your blooms hydrated and vibrant.

Set up a grid on your vase. This defines which flower type will go where. The grid also affect the shape of the entire arrangement. Long and large flowers go in first because they will anchor others to determine the ultimate design. Special wires or a special sponge are also used to define the shape of a floral arrangement.

Put the greens at the bottom or before all the other flowers. This is the universal or natural arrangement that can be seen even on a flowerbed. The blooms must be handled carefully to avoid crushing them. Wilted flowers should not form part of your arrangement.

A floral arrangement that lasts must be cared for regularly. This involves changing of water and misting. If the arrangement makes it difficult to drain water without disorganization, run tap water on the bloom until there is full replacement. Look at your arrangement from different angles to have an idea of what visitors will be seeing.
