Be Careful When Following Law Of Attraction Advice

By Marcie Goodman

Law of Attraction advice is a great way to approach life. It states that "like will attract like". In other words, your attitude will bring like- minded attitudes. If you are a negative person, it will attract negative people and if you are a positive person, it will attract positive people. There are many ways that this can benefit you. People who focus on good things will attract good things, if you believe it.

This is basically a great way of stating the importance of positive thoughts. People who focus on the positive aspects of life can expect to gain positivity from it. Maintaining a point of view that is optimistic can lead to all sorts of good side-effects, not the least of which is a good outlook on the future. Positivity can be rewarding in many ways but mostly it will just leave you happy.

The idea that "positivity will attract positivity" is laughable in some circumstances. Having a positive outlook will often times make the way you experience horrible situations more bearable but it will not affect the outcome or the reality of it. Sometimes having a positive outlook will get you more negativity than anything.

The reality of the situation is that it doesn't actually make any impact on the reality of the situation, only on your perception of it. Tell a survivor of some disastrous situation about how they could have altered their situation by the power of positive thought and they will likely scoff at you. Positive thought won't change the reality of a situation but it might help you cope with it.

For a lot of situations, you can study how they worked out historically and see how to react. Using the example of a cheating spouse again, you can look at different examples of when a spouse was or wasn't cheating and then go from there. Many people have worked this out before using all different kinds of ways and there have been many different outcomes.

The fact of the matter is that the only indifferent factor is the world itself. The world isn't influenced by attitude but rather, by the laws of physics. The "power of positivity" won't help you if you fall off of a building because of the Law of Gravity. Negative thoughts won't increase or decrease how hard a train hits you because of inertia.

The reason that many people give this way of thinking more credence than they should is because of the human tendency to feel "unique" or "special". We all want to feel like we are individuals who matter but the reality of it is that we are only one person of the six billion or so who live on this planet. Unless you are lucky enough to be entrusted with a powerful political office or a massive fortune, you probably will make as much impact as a fart in a windstorm.

Certainly, the positivity with which you approach the situation can have an impact on how you handle the outcome but it will not have any bearing on the actual outcome. It is much more reasonable to understand it as it is, realistically, and then to approach it all with the proper attitude. As heart-wrenching as it may be, reality doesn't change with your perception of things. Law of Attraction advice is not going to help you but you can help yourself.
